Many of the districts the Church serves are suffixed “Park”. There is Bridge Park, Brunton Park, Gosforth Park (including Newcastle Racecourse), Greystoke Park, Melton Park, Newcastle Great Park and Whitebridge Park. Melton Park has the ruins of a chapel which dates back to early medieval or late Norman times. It may have been built on the site of a Roman fort.
Brunton Park is a neighbouring estate to the Newcastle Great Park. The oldest parts in the estate have existed since the early 1930s. The rest of the estate was built during the 1940s and 1950s. It contains a number of local convenience shops.
The latest expansion of Gosforth (from 2000) is in the north-west corner of the suburb called “Newcastle Great Park”. This estate is served by the Ark in the Park Project. The area is currently under development along Brunton Lane. The Great Park area will eventually comprise a nursing home, private hospital, hotel, superstore, community centre and public house.

St Aidan’s Community Centre (separate building)
Aims to serve the community as a community facility by making a venue available which is clean, safe and welcoming. The venue has been used for every occasion from children’s parties to bridge clubs and many more.
The Community Centre although built upon land leased from St Aidan’s Church is independent from both the Church and the council. The original building was built using funds raised by the people of Brunton Park and Melton Park. It is run entirely by volunteers and our income comes from the receipts from the hire of the facilities. The management committee have received both National Lottery funding and grants from both North Gosforth Parish Council and Newcastle City Council.
The community centre is located at the junction of Polwarth Drive and Princes road on Brunton Park, next to St Aidan’s Church and opposite the row of shops. To hire facilities please email Email (preferred contact method):
